Area lies about 300km from the coast. The island has number of comfortable lodges that provide an excellent base for exploring the nearby Kunkiling forest, and Basang Quarry for the spectacular breeding colony of the Red Throated Bee Eater, and further afield.

A boat trip along the freshwater part of the River Gambia should many produce exotics such as Shining Blue Kingfisher, African Fish Eagle, Swamp Flycatcher, African Fin foot, as well as some classic African Mammals- Hippos, Chimpanzee, Variety of Reptiles and Primates.
